Does It Matter What Time I Use Prescription Acne Medication

If you are taking prescription medications for acne treatment chances are that you are taking either oral antibiotics or creams directly applied to your skin.

With antibiotics they are typically prescribed to be taken a certain number of times a day. The most effective way to take these is to space them out to an equal number of hours between each dose. They are best taken at the same times every day.

However if you are using creams that are to be applied directly to your skin you should follow whatever instructions that your doctor or pharmacist has given you exactly. This is especially true if you are using two or more different types of creams at different times of day.

For example, if you are using one type of cream in the morning and a different type of cream at night it is important to take these exactly as directed and not use them at the same time. Using them at the same time can cause them to cancel out certain ingredients in each other making them less effective or in some cases completely ineffective altogether. It is always important to follow whatever directions you have been given.
